Philosophy

Our Christian Education Program teaches universal Christian concepts through a “hands-on” experience without compromising individual beliefs or family customs.

We have programs for infants, toddlers, pre-school, and school age children.

The Children’s Center is open to any child aged 6 weeks through 11 years regardless of race, religion or ancestry.

Mission Statement

Aldersgate United Methodist Church Day Care Center referred to as Aldersgate Children's Center, exists as both model and ministry.  Its model is that of Christian community where all children can experience the transcendence of living in a caring, nurturing and healing community.  The pastoral ministry of Aldersgate United Methodist Church is to the members of the Aldersgate congregation and to the families in the community, assisting and supporting them in their parental role as they help their children develop as healthy, thoughtful, responsible and spiritual individuals.

The Children’s Center seeks to provide a developmentally appropriate atmosphere of Christian nurture, where all children are affirmed as precious and gifted children of a loving God, see themselves as valued and worthwhile and given emotional and spiritual tools for their journey as children of God.

We also believe that each child has the capacity to learn and to succeed in school.  The philosophy of the program encompasses the goal of meeting the needs of the whole child – physical, emotional, spiritual, creative, social and cognitive – in a loving nurturing environment.

We will build self-esteem by using a variety of teaching strategies which will reflect children’s natural developmental learning styles and multiple

intelligences.  Children will make choices in appropriately structured classroom environments.  They will be engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
